Below, we’ve listed a few important etiquette rules you’ll need to know before you hit the open road with your new bike. Don’t Touch Another Person’s Motorcycle

One of the most important rules of motorcycle etiquette is to never touch somebody else’s bike. While it may seem harmless at first glance, it’s a clear invasion of someone else’s property and a surprisingly common way for motorcycles to end up damaged or have important equipment broken. The exception to this rule is if a motorcycle owner offers you a ride on their model. However, allow them to extend an invitation to you rather than asking for one, as it’s often considered quite rude to request a ride from another rider.

Don’t Join Riding Groups Without Asking

Motorcycle riding groups are a popular way to meet other riders, make friends, and enjoy the open road together. However, if you’re looking to join a group for your next ride, make sure to set it up through the proper channels beforehand. Joining a group without asking can cause a lot of confusion during the ride and is considered incredibly rude.

Don’t Pull Up At a Stoplight

While there may be plenty of space for two motorcycles in a lane, it’s considered common courtesy to stay behind another rider when stopped at a light or intersection. Pull up next to another motorcycle, and you’re likely to block their path or cause confusion as to who should pull forward first.
