A Buyer's Guide to Harley-Davidson® Trikes
Finding helpful information about trikes isn’t always easy. While these vehicles aren’t as popular as your standard two-wheeled motorcycle, trike owners agree that they’re amazing to ride! For tips on finding the best trike model for you, read our article below, or come speak with a salesperson at our location in Eugene, Oregon.
Benefits
If you’re not aware of the benefits of owning a trike we’re happy to tell you all about them! These vehicles are much safer due to their size and stability. Because they’re easier to see, it’s less likely that you’ll be hit by a motorist on a trike. Their third wheel also makes turning and handling the vehicle much easier. This has not only reduced accidents but makes it easier for new riders to learn to drive this vehicle correctly. It also reduces a notable amount of strain on your body that would typically be present after a long ride.
Trike Cruisers
There’s currently only one Harley-Davidson® trike cruiser available on the market currently; the Tri Glide® Ultra. These trikes are mostly meant to be driven on city streets and nearby highways. They can reach high speeds and travel medium distances but aren’t meant for long-distance trips. However, this model still comes with plenty of storage space and an extremely comfortable seat. It follows the style of vintage cruisers giving it a unique style to go with its powerful engine.
Touring Trikes
Unlike the cruiser, there are currently two Harley-Davidson® touring trikes on the market. Both models are equipped for long-distance travel and are relatively similar when it comes to features. Overall, there are only 2 significant differences between these models: their style and torque. Thankfully, this makes selecting the suitable model for you a bit easier! If you want a trike with a more robust look and higher torque you’ll want to grab the CVO™ Tri Glide®. However, if you've never ridden an open vehicle like a trike or motorcycle you may prefer the Freewheeler® which has a sleeker design and less horsepower. It isn’t uncommon for first-time buyers to go overboard on their engine specs, only to realize it’s too powerful for their experience level. The Freewheeler® already has some pretty impressive engine power and we advise going with less torque if this is your first trike.
