The Benefits of Touring Motorcycles

Touring motorcycles are built with long-distance riding in mind. Their priority is maximizing rider comfort. After all, no one wants to go on a road trip and suffer from aching muscles and joints the entire time! Touring motorcycles come packed with perks such as an ergonomically designed riding position, extra padding in the seats, and sometimes even windshields to reduce wind fatigue.

Long-distance riding also requires supplies, from food to extra clothing to toiletries. Touring motorcycles are designed with plenty of storage space, which makes packing for day trips or overnight ones easy.

The Drawbacks of Touring Motorcycles

No model can be perfect and it's all about finding which tradeoffs are worth it to you. Touring motorcycles have larger and heavier frames, which does result in two downsides.

First, these models are not as fuel efficient. The weight of the bike, plus the weight of any supplies, can burn through fuel faster.

Second, they aren't as maneuverable. Their bulky frame can make it tough to tackle tight turns or weave in and out of traffic. The more often you ride, however, the easier it will become to handle a touring motorcycle.
